Darryl Blood

Growing up, he was deeply influenced by the visuals from the Beatles’ animated film, “Yellow Submarine”, the animation of the Brothers Quay and the dry, British comedy of Monty Python. His sensibilities border on the surreal, injected with a twisted sense of humor, pulling inspiration from Folk Art, Outsider Art, Pop Art, Modern Art, Children’s Book Art, and Graffiti style. His images challenge us to reject notions of convention or any attempt of taking oneself seriously. He graduated from the Art Institute of Boston, MA, with a BFA in Illustration/Animation, and packed his bags in 2002 for Los Angeles, where he now resides with his wife, Nicole and their two cats, Olive and Lucy. His work has been recently displayed at the Hive Gallery, Truxtop and Me & You Variety Candy
